Program One: Digital Mixtape : Volume IV: Resurgence

The WHSC anchor program returns for its fourth incarnation this summer using our recent experiences in a time of isolation and social distance, to explore what connects us as a society, individuals and as creative artists. We use various technology and multimedia platforms to help us with our voice, vision, artistry and social conscience by blending the students work with technology and media.  Advanced Musical Theatre Dance and Voice: This newly added element to the Mixtape rehearsals centers around training students in voice, dance and movement with the expressed goal of preparing our actors to self-tape auditions, prepare a video audition submission in both dance and musical theatre and have preparation skills to allow confident auditions whether live or video submission. With the help of our two musical directors and two choreographers we focus on not only training and technique, but the creation of video submissions in musical theatre and dance that are ready to send out at the end of the class.

We will approach the texts as living, urgent, and vital works capable of making profound impacts on an audience. Through a combination of monologue, scene work and sometimes song we will explore character, actions, and the extraordinary use of language. Our work will include close study of Shakespeare’s verse and prose, as well as developing strong vocal and physical techniques necessary to fully embody these powerful texts. This class culminates in the performance of two contrasting Shakespeare monologues which are simultaneously videotaped and ready for any online submission.  One on One Private Coaching: This newly added element of our Shakespeare intensive allows our team of teaching artists are to tackle any specific one on one coaching that our student company needs to focus on.
